Raise Your Energy Today

You need a 7 Day BrainwashSome people have a lot of internal drive and seem to be motivated all of the time. Other people struggle with their energy and enthusiasm levels and it becomes more difficult for these people to really get the most out of their days. Even the most driven person can experience down times and it is important to know how to pull yourself out of these kind of ruts.

Here are 4 powerful techniques that you can use to raise your energy and lift your spirits when you feel a lack of motivation.

Audio immersion. This is a technique that I have seen a number of people use in a variety of ways. The general idea is to combine inspirational music with some form of physical movement. As an example, you might want to find a song that really makes you come alive. A song that you like to sing along with. Turn the volume up a little. Then, as the song is playing, grab a pen and paper and begin writing down powerful statements to yourself.

You might write words like “I am energized”, “I have supreme confidence”, “I am incredibly productive”, “I have undying power” or any other statements that resonate with you. You can also shout these sayings out loud but I prefer the pen and paper method because you can’t always shout out loud, especially if other people are around you. This method is a sure fire way to increase your energy and motivation levels.

Positive and Negative Drivers. This technique involves analyzing very personal things about yourself that impact your emotions. The idea here is to list as many things as you can think of that cause you to feel drive. For example, you might have a goal of running a marathon but you have not had the drive or motivation to go on a run. You would rather lie on the couch.

In order to get yourself off of the couch, you would start by listing all of the positive things would result if you were to go for a run. This might include things like increased energy, happiness because you are proud of yourself, excitement of moving towards your marathon goal and of course contentment that you are preserving your health.

At the same time, you would also list all of your negative motivators. Things that might occur if you DON’T commit to your running goals. This might include things like self let-down for not sticking to your objectives, reduced energy or even proving your doubters to be right (this can be a huge one). When you combine the positive drives with the negative drivers, your energy and motivation levels can’t help but to be impacted and improved upon.

Comedy and Movement. This is a technique that I use all of the time and when I show other people, they really enjoy it. The idea is to combine the good feelings of comedy and laughter with the increased energy brought about by body movement.

There is no “right” way to do this so I will illustrate with an example. Go to youtube and search for a comedian or clips from a funny show that always makes your laugh. Even if your mood is really low at this point, simply watch the clip with no expectations for instant mood enhancement. You are simply observing at this point. Watch the clip twice if need be. Then, search for a second comedy clip and simply cue it up. Don’t play it yet.

After the first clip is finished, stand up, move your chair out of the way and do some kind of fast body movement. This can be anything that gets your heart pumping (leg raises, jumping jacks, shadow boxing, etc…). Do this for a minimum of one minute.

Once your mini exercise session is done, return to your computer and watch the second comedy clip. You will find your energy level rising and you will very likely have an easy time laughing at this clip. Repeat this process a few times if need be.

These 3 techniques may seem basic on the surface but can have a huge impact on your life. Experiment with them and see how it can improve your energy and motivation levels.

Track your progress

You need a 7 Day Brainwash“What get measured gets managed.” — Peter Drucker

The beginning of a new year is a time where we all sit down and determine once and for all that we are going to change. We’ve failed our resolutions in years past, but not this time. Right?

If this describes your thought process, the odds are drastically against you. Most of us live our lives primarily through habit. Hundreds (actually more likely thousands) of little habits determine our moment by moment choices and ultimately our results in life.

Making permanent change usually requires a lot more than a simple new year’s declaration. And the key is becoming aware of the changes you want to make.

Enter the fun and exciting world of statistical measurement. Okay, even as a Math major I find the idea of stats and data completely boring. Or at least I DID find it boring until I read the quote at the beginning of this article.

The truth is, when you begin to measure anything, the simple act of observation will begin to impact the results.

In 2007 I was on a mission to change my life, build up the courage to quit my job and start my own business. This required a total re-engineering of my thought patters, beliefs and behaviours. Without knowing it at the time, I actually used precise measurement and analysis to drive my permanent lifestyle change.

For a period of 100+ days, I tracked almost every single activity I performed in a day. This included everything from work, to checking Facebook (back when nobody knew Facebook), to grocery shopping. What this allowed me to do was evaluate my actions and focus more time and energy on activities that ultimately moved me towards my goal of being an independent entrepreneur.

If I engaged in a goal-destroying activity (like watching TV instead of working on my new business), I had to write it down on my activity list. Of course, I didn’t want to write these destructive activities down so my “list” became my control mechanism. Instead of discipline and wishful thinking, I had a practical, tangible solution to changing my life.

In hindsight, I now realize that this simple system can be used to activate any change you want in your life. From losing weight to increasing productivity to improving relationships, measure the activities and instantly bring a new awareness that provokes positive change.

Your task. Go to the dollar store, buy a simple 3-subject notebook and begin tracking “some” data that is impacting your life. It could be a food/exercise journal, it could be a list of all “time wasters” that are hurting your success. Make sure you have a specific goal in mind and then track your improvements as you track your activities. The small changes in numbers will have a large impact on your life.

7 quick ways to de-stress

You need a 7 Day Brainwash1. If possible, walk away from the problem and get some fresh air. A walk, even a brief one, will provide space from the scene of the stress and enable some breathing space so as to calm down. A change of scenery can be exceptionally therapeutic.

2. Reading a novel with a gripping storyline can help with a mental escape from any stressful situation. Troubles can dissipate along with any tension and a few good chapters of reading will have provided enough time out to be able to face any situation more calmly.

3. Meditation is often overlooked or viewed as too difficult when in fact; the truth couldn’t be more different. There is no mystery to the techniques; it only requires regular practice and a focus on the intent of clearing the mind.

4. Herbal teas can be an excellent aid to relaxation. Trial and error will soon ascertain the best calming teas for the individual but chamomile is a renowned favourite for de-stressing and relieving tension.

5. It’s possible to buy stress-busting toys. There may be a fun aspect to them but squeezing a stress ball and pummelling it into shape or getting a punch bag and focussing all that inner aggression on it, can certainly help to alleviate any frustrations and prevent it from turning inwards.

6. Watch a comedy DVD. It’s virtually impossible to stay tense when something is funny. Even five or ten minutes will make a big difference to any stress levels.

7. Breathing of course is vitally important but when someone is stressed, they become tense and their breathing becomes erratic. Take five minutes away from the stressful situation and focus on the breath. Counting the breath in and out will help to focus the mind and relieve tension.

Making a Habit of Personal Development

You need a 7 Day BrainwashIt can be a rather amusing task to sit back and analyze some of the daily rituals we perform, often without giving any conscious thought. I believe this is a good thing because we would accomplish very little if we had to stop and think about every task we perform.

Just today, I was making the short drive from my home to the library where I do most of my writing, when I noticed I had been completely engrossed in thoughts about the book I am writing. I had to look in the back seat to check if I even brought my laptop and writing materials. I then became aware of all of the other things that had to take place just to make this short trip. Among other things, I had to put on my shoes, put on my jacket, walk from the house to the car, unlock the car with the keyless entry, place my bag in the back seat, sit in the driver’s seat, fasten my seatbelt, start the car, and so on. The entire time this was happening, my thoughts were directed towards my task for the day.

This got me thinking about some of the other habit patterns in our life that we consciously decide to do without really asking ourselves if the task is really the most important thing on our list. For example, many people choose to watch a number of hours of television each day. I personally know people who spend an unusual amount of time daily cleaning their home or randomly browsing the internet. The point I am trying to make is that most of us can probably uncover at least one hour of time each day that we give to meaningless tasks.

The interesting thing is, if you ask most people if they are happy with all of the results in their life, the truthful answer is often no.

My goal is to encourage people to dedicate some time every single day to personal reflection and self development. If you are unhappy with a certain situation, you have the ability to change your thinking, and ultimately your behaviour, so that you can improve that particular circumstance. Instead of watching a daytime drama or indulging in excessive dusting and mopping, you might want to consider picking up a book or audio program that forces you to examine your results.

From my personal experience, this simple action produces an internal reaction. Because you are examining your own personal results, you quickly realize that you are the only one who can change them. Unfortunately, in our society today, people are fixated on producing immediate results and having tangible evidence in their hands the minute they ask for something. With personal development, the true benefits can only be realized when we incorporate the ideas into a habit.

Think about it this way. If you were to make a firm commitment to read or listen to personal development educational programs for even 30 minutes a day for the next two weeks, what kind of positive impact could this have on your life? What if you did it for two months? Similar to unconscious activities such as getting dressed or brushing your teeth, you would start to create a new habit and become the kind of person who automatically takes action on ideas that move you in the direction of improved results.

From personal experience, I can attest to the fact that this kind of self study works. It really is a never ending process because it is part of our nature to grow, expand and develop and ultimately, it provides an excellent opportunity to make positive life changes. As you become more involved in personal development, you will start to notice areas of your life that are working well and other areas that require improvement. This kind of education will help you harness ideas that will improve your results while at the same time, overcome all of the inhibitors standing in the way of you achieving your aim!

A common question I hear is, “Where do I start?” There are so many good authors, philosophies and ideas on this topic that you can never really say which style will work. The best advice I have ever received from this perspective is to study and learn from those who are producing results that you would like in your life. It’s a pretty basic lesson but a very important one. Seek out the people who have already achieved what you would like to achieve and learn from them. Success often leaves clues and it is up to you to find those clues and act on them. With a daily commitment to personal improvement, you will quickly become a master detective you will transform each clue into a tangible action that will lead to a more fulfilled life.

Develop Your Mind

You need a 7 Day Brainwash“What we are today comes from our thoughts of yesterday and our present thoughts build our life tomorrow. Our life is the creation of our mind.”

Siddhartha Buddha

When I say, “develop the mind”, I am really talking about reaching an elevated level of understanding regarding the connection between your mind, your body and the results in your life.

An important distinction to make before we discuss the mind any further is that our mind is simply a part’ of us. Too often, people identify themselves as their mind when, in truth, our mind is another part of our being much like our arms or legs. Even more importantly, WE have the ability to CONTROL our mind by choosing our THOUGHTS.

That’s right! We choose our thoughts whether we realize it or not. Unfortunately, many people are in the habit of choosing negative thoughts without even realizing they are doing so. For example, if you have lived your whole life believing that another person’s opinion is more important than your own, then you would have accepted any negative criticism as the truth regardless of whether it served you or not. In fact, someone’s negative comment may have actually caused you to abandon your dream.

Unless you learned how to CHOOSE new thoughts regarding other people’s opinions, you would never be able to change these results. If you would like to learn more, read the article entitled, “Self-Talk. How Thoughts Affect Feelings” by Jerry Waxler.

The empowering realization is that your ability to choose thoughts is ALWAYS available to you. You have the power to habituate new thought patterns (beliefs) that support your passions and goals in life.

Habituating this new way of thinking is not something that will happen overnight. Like any other habit, it takes consistency and repetition.

Can you believe it?

You need a 7 Day BrainwashI’m always fascinated when I read stories or case studies about “the placebo effect”. The typical scenario has a group of people being given a sugar pill but they BELIEVE the treatment is real. Often these people recover as well, or even better than those who received the actual treatment.

The explanation of this phenomenon basically comes down to the fact that the patient believed the treatment was real, and it was the belief that caused the positive result.

I’m sure you would agree that people always act and respond based on what they believe to be true. For example, if you believed you saw a bear in the forest, you would likely react with fear. If the bear turned out to be a person dressed in a bear costume, you would still react with just as much fear until you were told the “real” truth. Once you were aware that the bear was not real, you believed a new reality and your response would change drastically.

Well this process can be applied to pretty much any area of life.

Most often, I think about this process when it comes to achieving a goal that is well beyond anything you have accomplished before. It is very difficult to believe that you are capable of achieving something so foreign to your current life results.

For example, if you are terrified of speaking in front of a small group, it is next to impossible to believe that you would be capable of delivering a powerful speech to a large audience. However, if you spent 30 days reading, studying and even speaking to people who overcame your exact situation to become powerful speakers, you would quickly create the belief that this was also possible for you.

Once you had truly convinced your mind that you were also capable of being a speaker, your actions would follow suit. You would take speaker training, you would participate in speaking engagements, you would join public speaking clubs and you would likely do anything else that moved you towards the goal.

But all of these actions were governed by the fact that you believed you were capable.

So here is the real question. Do you have certain goals or ideas that you may have been rejecting because you simply did not believe you were capable?

If so, it is very likely that you formed this belief by default without ever really asking yourself if it was possible. Well now is your chance to start changing that belief. Look for other people who have done what you want to do and study them. Realize that it is very likely possible for you too. Change your beliefs and in turn, change your actions. Change your actions and you have a new life!

Get motivated with these tips

You need a 7 Day BrainwashThere is no “failure” per se but rather, a choice. Do we choose to draft new plans and keep going? Or do we give up on the idea and move on.

You can do it… you just need to persist. And sometimes that persistence will be the only thing to keep you going.

Take a few minutes to really contemplate this question… “Does your life have meaning?”

Are you creating something that makes you come alive and gives you that meaning we have been talking about?

Realize that anything you want to do CAN BE DONE just where you stand right now. One little action is all it takes.

Some people view life as a set of choices with varying degrees of risk. They then make choices based on risk mitigation rather than gains.

The truth is, if you want to make the most of your life and really experience everything you truly desire, you have no choice but to RISK.

Use today to focus on powerful goals and the powerful actions that you can be taking to advance towards those goals.

Focus on the win and accept the risk as the price you pay for the dream. Will it be worth it? You better believe it.

I want to challenge you today. Make your entire focus about exuding the energy that you want to attract into your life.

We can choose to react to life. Or we can choose to respond to life.

Do you know what triggers your stress?

You need a 7 Day BrainwashBecause stress can be endured over a period of time without the individual truly becoming aware of it or by them simply accepting it as part of their lives, one of the most important aspects of stress management is to take those first positive steps towards making key changes as this will then create the strong foundations that are required to master stress control.

It’s important that progression is consistent throughout; they may be small steps individually but they are powerful ones nevertheless. The idea is to change any existing behaviours and to stress-proof new routines as much as possible, re-inventing both thought and actions going forward. This might sound difficult, but the most difficult aspect is always going to be identifying areas of change, after that, it is merely consolidating those lifestyle changes.

When life is muddled and very stressful, identifying the stress triggers that cause the problems will make changing them that much easier. Taking a pen and paper, write down all of the things that cause the most stress.

– No time to yourself

– Problems with the teenage son or daughter

– Money problems- more going out than coming in

– Feeling undervalued at home and at work

– Too much work

The list should be as comprehensive as possible and very honest. No-one else has to see the list and even those annoying little stressors should be captured because although on their own, they may just be a source of irritation, coupled with other factors, they can form powerful stress triggers that can cause much damage physically, healthily and emotionally.

Once the list is complete, it should be scrutinized with a sense of clarity to identify those areas where changes could be made. If necessary break the list down into a series of sub-sections and options such as:

– Feeling undervalued at home

– Having to do all of the housework as well as work full-time

– Main culprit Husband/Wife step-son

– Started happening when partner changed job and worked a lot more hours (pattern established).

Options

– Open up communication to partner

– Discuss jointly with step son and work out parameters

– Stick to it.

By writing down everything that evokes a stress response i.e. churning feeling in the stomach, headaches, tears, anger, or irritability for example, the individual is able to really understand what is going on in their lives and why they feel the way they do. In addition, this clarification of stress triggers helps the individual to face any set of real problems and tangible problems can always be overcome.

Self doubts, irregular thought patterns and feelings of inadequacies or helplessness are more difficult to fight. Ascertain the true cause of those stressors and deal with them one by one.

Successful people take action

You need a 7 Day Brainwash“It is the duty of men to judge men only by their actions. Our faculties furnish us with no means of arriving at the motive, the character, the secret self. We call the tree good from its fruits, and the man, from his works.” Ralph Waldo Emmerson

All successful people are ACTION oriented people. This means that they are willing to go out and do the work required to turn thoughts and ideas into actual, physical results. Do they achieve phenomenal results the first time they attempt something? ABSOLUTELY NOT!

These people understand that every so called failure’ provides a perfect learning experience to help them move closer to a desired result in life. Being an ACTION TAKER is nothing more than becoming someone who is willing to get involved and experiment with new ideas. Some ideas work well, others do not. The world’s high achievers simply accept the fact that success is very much a numbers game… the more things they try, the more likely it becomes that they reach their goals.

The key is to make ACTION an automatic process in your life. By this I mean, when you find a goal or objective you would like to reach, you become the kind of person who begins immediately to move towards your desire. While many other people would hesitate to act and move into a state of procrastination, you would be well on your way to completing your set objective!

A word of caution. While I do believe that all successful people are extremely action oriented, this does not mean that they blindly act on the first zany idea that enters their mind. There is still an element of planning and calculated risk that must be considered in order to reach any major

goal. The DIFFERENCE is that the high achievers gather the facts and make a quick DECISION.

They then use the power of FEEDBACK to examine the quality of their previous actions, and adjust their route accordingly. Once again, they make another quick DECISION and fire away. They repeat this process until they reach their desired results.

Seems simple…so why do so many people struggle to produce the results they want in life? I gave a clue to the answer in the previous 2 paragraphs.

The reason so many people struggle to achieve their goals is that they have never made a committed DECISION. A firm DECISION is a mental move that anyone can make that makes ACTION automatic. As the commitment level increases, so does the intensity of the actions being taken.

As an example, let’s say you want quit smoking. One option is to make a personal decision and tell yourself, I am done with this habit.’ Another option is to create a legally binding contract stating:

“I will not smoke a cigarette for an entire year. There will be a medical team assigned to test whether I have any nicotine in my system. If I fail the test at any point, I will lose my entire life savings including my house.”

While an extreme and somewhat comical example, the truth is that it would likely work. If you were in this situation you would be forced to take any and every action necessary to help you kick the habit!

Why You’re Not Attracting Money

You need a 7 Day BrainwashHave you tried to manifest money lately? What did you do?

You probably visualized. You believed with all your heart and mind that money was coming to you. You may have closed your eyes and felt abundant. Perhaps you went so far as to test drive a luxury car or view a property that’s five times over your budget. (I’ve done those things and more in the past).

Did you manifest money?

I’m betting, (especially as you’re reading this), that you didn’t. And I’m not a betting man! Does this mean that the law of attraction doesn’t work then?

For a long time, I thought that must be the case. Surely I was doing everything the books, courses, website gurus and channelled wise ones were instructing me to? Either they were wrong or I was wrong. If they were the ones at fault – and I did consider that perhaps they were modern day “snake oil” sellers, then the law of attraction was just another myth put about to manipulate and cruelly hoax the masses.

And if I was wrong, what on earth did I have still to learn in order to manifest money? The frustration was overwhelming at times.

So I considered all the options. Now, try to imagine a world with no law of attraction. In that case everything would be just random. (You can’t have it both ways). You’d have animals with nineteen legs and the body of a cow and the head of a chicken, wouldn’t you? DNA isn’t random!

The world would spin the other way, or not at all some days. There’s just too much order in the universe for randomness to be considered. So if there’s order, I reasoned, and I’m a part of that, how much influence do I have over it? Surely, I’m something of a transmitter of ideas and information as well as a receiver of thoughts, dreams and yes, DNA instructions?

I decided, after much thought, that the gurus were right.

Which meant I was doing something wrong! But what?

To find out, I watched and listened to and read as many “naturally” successful people as I could find. I wanted to figure out what they had in common, and especially how they managed to manifest money seemingly on demand. I analysed and scrutinized and rubbed my eyes! Finally, the penny dropped. Talk about “hiding in plain sight!”

They weren’t DOING anything. They were simply BEING themselves – and their way of being drew success, attracted wealth, health and anything they desired – naturally.

The shift from doing to being was what enabled me to finally “get it.” Since we’re always “being” something, all we have to do is learn how to “be” something that attracts wealth! Astoundingly, we already know how to be a manifester. It’s like when you plan a trip or organize an event. You’re in a state of total certainty and confidence. You’re clear about your outcome and you have no doubts.

TA-DA!!

But when I started telling people that, they still thought that to manifest money there must be a “technique” or “trick” involved. But that’s “doing” again!

Now, NLP (neuro linguistic programming) happens to be something I’m trained in. And one of NLP’s finest tools is teaching you how to manage your “state” – which is another way of saying “how you are.” You can change your way of BEING on command, which in turn implies that you can learn to manifest money on demand!

You see, you can’t WORRY about money and still manifest money. It’s like driving with your foot on the accelerator and the brake at the same time. You’ll waste a lot of energy and get nowhere.

Now, do you suppose that you might be in the right state to manifest money if you weren’t worried and you knew how to banish negative thoughts – as a way of BEING?

You betcha! (Okay, you don’t bet either).

But I’m telling you, I hit something big here. Don’t DO, just BE. And then you’ll manifest money. I manifested over 8,100 in nine days doing this so I know it works.

Go get your money manifesting instructions from here … and do it now!
