Guilt can lead to stress

You need a 7 Day BrainwashMany people hold onto guilt or emotional traumas burying them deep within and this in turn can be a constant source of stress that niggles away and irritates as external stresses build up. Whatever the source of guilt, regret or pain, it will only cause stale energy around the sufferer and hamper any stress reduction if left unresolved.

Guilt and regrets are common as are unresolved issues of rejection, heartbreak and grief but they stagnate and can be a powerful source of stress. To progress and to move away from any previously negative behavioural patterns that might have been developed over the years and to be able to manage stress more easily in the future, it is worth looking back at any of these feelings and identifying how they happened and how they should be dealt with.

Opening up the body, mind and soul to a better way of living means visualizing the negative emotions and recalling sometimes painful memories and this can be difficult, but it’s important that they are identified. Learning to let go of negative emotions and to be ready to move on is the only way forward. Accept that everyone does things that they regret, everyone feels pain, whether self-inflicted or caused through others but it’s unhealthy to hold onto those feelings. Stress management takes many forms and always looks to identify the crux of the matter.

Any visualization can be adapted to suit the individual’s personal circumstances, it simply requires them to focus on what they are trying to achieve before starting the visualization.

Healing Arrows is another useful visualization that can help you to focus on the inner most hurts and wounds that may have been damaging over the years. Focussing on these wounds is not to make the person re-suffer but to allow the sometimes fermenting wound to be emotionally cleansed and allow healing to take place.

With eyes closed and in a quiet space, the individual should focus on a time when they experienced emotional pain, trauma or conflict. This can be an emotional journey but to face up to any buried feelings, guilt or pain is an important part of the journey. If the event was simply buried at the time and is still tender and raw inside, then healing will not have begun yet.

Imagine the wound and lying within is a buried arrow, which is still keeping the emotional pain alive. Mentally imagine moving the arrow from the wound (the trauma) and realize that it doesn’t hurt to move it but instead, a sense of relief is experienced as the situation (the pain) is now able to heal and the wound is being cleansed.

Focus on the memory associated with the wound and watch it dissipate. As with all things in life, it’s important that the situation is accepted but understand that it is now possible to move on.

This is quite a powerful visualization and can take some time for the power behind it to materialize; it should be practiced regularly for maximum effect and can be adapted to suit.

Positive Notes

Write down something positive about life. Too often people concentrate on the negative aspects of their lives and this becomes the complete thought process upon which they live. No life is all good or all bad but to help ward off feelings of negativity and stress, write down all of the things that are good on an individual basis and then re-read it.

It may sometimes come as a surprise as to how much good is already there and how minimal the stress is by comparison. This technique provides clarity.

Goal Setting and Goal Achieving is ultimately what characterizes the true winners in life. Unfortunately for some people, they have wonderful and exciting ideas for their life but it rarely goes further than the idea phase.

Having a Goal allows ANYONE to take an idea from the invisible plane of thought and begin the process of actualizing it in the real world.

In this lesson, we are going to focus on the process of goal setting. The subsequent lessons will help you with the actualization process of goal achieving.

So, how do you determine what your goals should be?

The easiest way to get going is to think about all of the various areas of your life where you place importance on improving your results. As an example, the most important areas of my life that I focus on for goal setting include Financial, Career, Family, Health/Fitness, Recreation/Free Time. There are no rules or restrictions when it comes to defining your own personal categories. The important part of the lesson is to look within and determine the areas of your life that you would like to focus on improving.

Note: You may already be very successful in a particular area of your life. This does NOT mean that you ignore goal setting here. In fact, it is just as important to focus on your goals in this area so that you move your mind into a mode of constant improvement’. There is ALWAYS room to grow! By universal law, if you are not growing and expanding, then you are fading away and dying. Choose NOW to always be moving in the direction of expansion

and fuller expression.

Goals are very much like a destination on the roadmap of your life. You are in charge of the direction you travel at ALL times. People with goals generally accomplish great things because they know where they are going.

An alarming observation is that according to recent statistics, fewer than 5% of the population have written goals for their life. This means that over 95% of the people are moving through life without a clear direction. So the obvious question for these folks is, “if you don’t know where you are going, how will you know when you get there?”

By learning this lesson, you automatically move yourself into the top 5% of high achievers.

Believe it’s possible

You need a 7 Day BrainwashYou need to believe that your desires will manifest into your life. This may sound simple but it can be a very difficult step for you. The main reason why you do not have all that you desire in your life right now is that on a subconscious level you feel that you don’t deserve it or it is impossible for you to get it. Even if you start reading your intentions, and giving out positive emotional energy, if you feel deep down that you don’t deserve it or it will never happen, you are unwittingly pushing it away.

The trouble is we are so used to feeling down day after day. Most people seem to exist in a semi depressed state, and it has become the norm to moan about our lives. Maybe you don’t have enough money and the bills keep pouring in through the letter box. Every time you look at your bank statement or open a bill, you feel more anxious or depressed about not having enough money. You don’t believe that it’s possible for you to have more money and don’t think you have the skills to become wealthy so you believe that you will always struggle financially. By thinking this way, you are cutting yourself off from ever becoming wealthy. You will be giving out negatively charged emotional thought vibrations which will attract more bills and debt to you and keep money away.

The idea that we have to think positively, and focus instead on thoughts and abundance seems alien to us- after all, how can we possibly feel positive when we are struggling to put food on the table? Changing your whole thought patterns is not easy, but with a little practice it can be done- and the rewards are immeasurable. It’s a little like learning to drive- During your first few lessons it seems so complicated you feel you will never get the hang of it. After a few weeks, however, you are going through the motions of driving almost automatically. It just takes time, practice and patience!

One good tip is to state your intentions in smaller steps. For example, if you state an intention to earn $1,000,000, whilst it could be attainable, your subconscious may not be able to comprehend this amount if you are currently earning, say, $15,000. Your beliefs may not think that this is possible and you may be subconsciously pushing this goal away as you will not believe that you can achieve it.

So take smaller steps. You can probably imagine earning, say, $30,000- this will feel much more achievable and you are likely to be able to imagine earning this amount. Once you are earning $30,000, it will be easier for you to imagine and believe that you can earn $75,000 so this will be your next intention. Your beliefs will change as you move up towards your original goal and help you to believe that you can attain it.

Similarly, to someone who weighs 400lbs, stating an intention to weigh 120lbs may seem impossible to them, especially if they have been heavy for years and have tried every diet program out there.

But the idea of weighing 50lb less may be more believable to them, and so their first intention may be to weigh 350lbs.

Once they have achieved this, they can set their next intention to weigh 300lbs- as the weight is lost slowly, their beliefs that they cannot attain a healthy weight for their height and build will gradually change.

Raise Your Energy Today

Other people struggle with their energy and enthusiasm levels and it becomes more difficult for these people to really get the most out of their days. Even the most driven person can experience down times and it is important to know how to pull yourself out of these kind of ruts.

Here are 4 powerful techniques that you can use to raise your energy and lift your spirits when you feel a lack of motivation.

Audio immersion. This is a technique that I have seen a number of people use in a variety of ways. The general idea is to combine inspirational music with some form of physical movement. As an example, you might want to find a song that really makes you come alive. A song that you like to sing along with. Turn the volume up a little. Then, as the song is playing, grab a pen and paper and begin writing down powerful statements to yourself.

You might write words like “I am energized”, “I have supreme confidence”, “I am incredibly productive”, “I have undying power” or any other statements that resonate with you. You can also shout these sayings out loud but I prefer the pen and paper method because you can’t always shout out loud, especially if other people are around you. This method is a sure fire way to increase your energy and motivation levels.

Positive and Negative Drivers. This technique involves analyzing very personal things about yourself that impact your emotions. The idea here is to list as many things as you can think of that cause you to feel drive. For example, you might have a goal of running a marathon but you have not had the drive or motivation to go on a run. You would rather lie on the couch.

In order to get yourself off of the couch, you would start by listing all of the positive things would result if you were to go for a run. This might include things like increased energy, happiness because you are proud of yourself, excitement of moving towards your marathon goal and of course contentment that you are preserving your health.

At the same time, you would also list all of your negative motivators. Things that might occur if you DON’T commit to your running goals. This might include things like self let-down for not sticking to your objectives, reduced energy or even proving your doubters to be right (this can be a huge one). When you combine the positive drives with the negative drivers, your energy and motivation levels can’t help but to be impacted and improved upon.

Comedy and Movement. This is a technique that I use all of the time and when I show other people, they really enjoy it. The idea is to combine the good feelings of comedy and laughter with the increased energy brought about by body movement.

There is no “right” way to do this so I will illustrate with an example. Go to youtube and search for a comedian or clips from a funny show that always makes your laugh. Even if your mood is really low at this point, simply watch the clip with no expectations for instant mood enhancement. You are simply observing at this point. Watch the clip twice if need be. Then, search for a second comedy clip and simply cue it up. Don’t play it yet.

After the first clip is finished, stand up, move your chair out of the way and do some kind of fast body movement. This can be anything that gets your heart pumping (leg raises, jumping jacks, shadow boxing, etc…). Do this for a minimum of one minute.

Once your mini exercise session is done, return to your computer and watch the second comedy clip. You will find your energy level rising and you will very likely have an easy time laughing at this clip. Repeat this process a few times if need be.

These 3 techniques may seem basic on the surface but can have a huge impact on your life. Experiment with them and see how it can improve your energy and motivation levels.

Use the law of attraction to let go

You need a 7 Day BrainwashUse the law of attraction to let go, receive your desires and allow them to manifest. This may sound simple, and it should be, but so many people fail at this. They expect the law of attraction to work like magic- they set an intention for $100,000 or whatever and just sit back and wait for it to drop into their lap. I’m afraid that the law of attraction doesn’t actually work like this. It works by prompting and assisting you to act in a certain way to bring your desires to fruition; for example if your intention is to lose weight, you will feel naturally drawn to healthier habits such as eating more fruit and vegetables and exercising regularly. You may find that you no longer desire fatty foods or foods you used to crave.

If your intention is to manifest a new job, you may get a hunch to call a friend you haven’t spoken with for some time. Whilst you are chatting, he then happens to mention that an acquaintance of his is looking to hire somebody in the exact field of work you have always wanted to work in.

If your intention is to manifest a load of cash, you may receive some inner instruction to start a new business, or get an idea of running your existing business more efficiently.

So although you will still have to take some action to receive your desires, it will be inspired action, and people have found that all the obstacles in their path have melted away before them. If you get a hunch or instruction that seems to come from inside of you, make sure you act on it, as it could be the universe’s way of manifesting your intention.

Also, make sure you are not stating your intentions from a place of desperation. For instance, if you need money to pay the gas bill before you get cut off, whilst you are reading your intention there is a risk that you will be worrying how you will get it, and inwardly fretting about your gas being cut off. This is where your emotions will be focused and you will attract more reasons to worry rather than the money you need to pay the bill.

You will need to be able to detach yourself to a certain extent when reading your intentions. Don’t allow yourself to feel bad because you don’t have them yet and have no idea how you are going to get them. That’s the universe’s job. You just need to feel confident that they are on their way so there is no need to worry. The trick is to imagine receiving them, get into the feeling of having them, get excited about them, feel grateful for receiving them and try to detach yourself from worrying that you don’t yet have them or how you will get them. That last sentence encapsulates quite neatly the whole process of manifesting your desires using the law of attraction!

Once you have received your intention, feel grateful for it and release that feeling of gratitude to the universe.

The Law of Attraction

You need a 7 Day BrainwashThere are several natural laws by which we are all bound, and the law of attraction is just one of these. These laws definitely exist- you can see the law of gravity (another natural law) in action every time you drop something and watch it fall to the floor!

The law of attraction works by making sure that what is brought into your life matches the thoughts and energy you are sending out. Everything in the universe is made of energy- including us. Everything you can see is made up of different configurations of energy. If you were to look at your hand through a powerful enough telescope, you would see that your hand is not actually a solid object but made up of countless tiny atoms. These atoms are never static, but are in a constant state of motion. You are constantly radiating this energy out to the universe in the form of thoughts (which are also made up of energy), and the type of energy sent out depends on your emotional state at that particular time. These emotional thought energies are known as vibrations’ and automatically attract back to us anything that is on the same vibrational frequency. Put simply, your emotions and thought determine what you are attracting. You become a magnet, attracting whatever you think about, especially if you attach emotion to the thought.

Energy vibrates at different frequencies, and the things you attract into your life are vibrating at the same frequency as your thoughts. Thoughts such as love, excitement and abundance vibrate at higher frequencies which will attract more of these things to you, whereas thoughts such as stress, anger and confusion vibrate at lower frequencies which will attract more of them into your life.

For example, if you are constantly feeling anxious because your car needs repairs and you have some large bills due which you don’t know how you will pay, the thought vibrations you are giving out will attract back to you things on a similar frequency; for example you will receive more things to feel anxious about- you may get more bills or your washing machine may develop a fault.

On the other hand, if you are feeling good about yourself and happy with life then the thought vibrations you are giving out will attract more reasons for you to feel good and happy with your life.

Just as the law of gravity is always working, the law of attraction is also always working, even though we are not always aware of it. Everything we currently have in our lives right now is what we attracted- whether it is poor relationships, ill health or lack of money. Even the clothes you wear and the car you drive- your thoughts attracted them whether you were aware of this or not. Although this may seem a little depressing, it is actually quite empowering! How? Well, if you unconsciously attracted things you didn’t want into your life, now that you know about the law of attraction and how it works, you can start deliberately attracting the things you do want!

Listen to your voice

You need a 7 Day BrainwashThere are more than enough personal development books that talk about the power of affirmations. I am not here to argue the validity or the science behind affirmations. What I will say is that from my own personal experiences, when you repeat a set of instructions to yourself over and over again, you eventually start to believe your own voice.

Here is a quick process you can follow to create your own digital affirmations that you can use in your own brainwashing process.

– Write out a description of your ideal outcomes in all the various areas of your life. This can include business, financial, relationship, health, etc…

– Record your voice reading these statements with as much feeling and belief as possible.

– Use software like Garageband to overlay some relaxing or new age style music faintly in the background

– Export as an mp3 file and listen to it on low volumes as you work, exercise, sleep or during any activity where you feel it works for you

For the analytic people out there, you cannot measure the benefit of this exercise directly but I will say from personal experience that it has been a technique I have used to help achieve a number of my more difficult longer term goals.

6 tips to strengthen your willpower muscles

studies that have been conducted on the habit of “willpower” as being an important predictor of success in life.

In general, people who exercise more self control (in all different types of situations) are more likely to produce better results in life, health, family, business, and so on.

Many of the studies actually show that a person’s willpower acts like a muscle that can be developed and strengthened with practice. Here are some suggested activities you can try to strengthen your own willpower or self-control “muscles”…

1. Try brushing your teeth with the opposite hand. It might start off feeling very awkward, but as you work on the habit, you improve your ability while increasing your self control.

2. Change your reactions. For example, if you have the habit of reacting with anger when something doesn’t go your way, choose to practice changing your reaction to something more positive. Each experience creates the new habit and reinforces your willpower muscles.

3. Read or listen to books about personal development daily (ideally at the same time each day). The more you analyze your habits and behaviours, the more you will see opportunities for change and improvement.

4. Replace every drink with water. This is a great habit for anyone who wants to improve their health. If you normally have a pop, coffee or juice, make the conscious decision to replace it with water. Each choice strengthens your self control muscles and contributes to better health.

5. Practice proper breathing. As often as possible throughout the day, focus on deep breathing into your diaphragm rather than short breaths that often come as a result of stress.

6. Adjust your posture. By repeatedly correcting your posture, you not only improve the health of your body (and particularly your spine), you also create an opportunity to form a new habit that comes from the development of your willpower.

These are just a few examples that you can use and adapt into your own self-control regimen. The key is to find activities that are important to you and will move you towards some specific goal you have in your life.

Another important aspect to keep in mind is the enjoyment factor. If you are working on your willpower strength but the entire time, you feel like it is punishment or painful, the chance of you maintaining your new habit is slim.

So take some time today to think of some new activities you can build into your life that help you build your willpower and self control. Remember to have fun with it, see it as a tool to help you become more successful and don’t forget to forgive yourself if you happen to sway off track once in a while.

You need a 7 Day BrainwashYesterday was full of maybe’s. I’d been booked to do a one day course in London, and I was trying to buy my rail ticket over the phone. As I was speaking, the guy at the other end said to me, “I’m sorry, sir, my computer screen has just blanked out. All our system is down. Could you call back later?” I tried, but it was the same story. A third time, the same. Wasn’t that annoying?

Maybe.

I was just beginning to get frustrated, when my phone rang. It was the man who’d booked me. “Listen,” he said, “Am I too late to postpone you for a week? We’ve got a hitch this end.”

There is a story I rather like. A poor Indian farmer has a small piece of land and a horse. He is old, but his healthy son works the land and can ride the horse. One day, the horse runs away. The neighbours gather round and say how terrible it is. “You poor man,” they cry, “now you cannot work your land. That’s terrible.”

“Well, maybe,” is all the old farmer says.

The next day, the horse returns with two wild horses. The neighbours cry, “It’s a miracle. Now you have three horses. Isn’t that wonderful?”

“Well, maybe,” says the old man.

The farmer’s son is breaking in the wild horses when one of them throws him and he falls badly and breaks his leg. The neighbours are horrified. “Now you have no one to work the land. That’s awful,” they wail.

You guessed what the farmer says, haven’t you? “Well, maybe.”

The next day, war breaks out, and the government conscript all healthy young men into the army. When they get to the farmer’s house, they cannot take his son because of his broken leg.

“It’s wonderful,” cry the neighbours, (who obviously don’t learn very fast). “Now your son will be spared the war. Isn’t that fabuloso?”

By now, you know what the farmer said. He said, “Well, maybe.” …………..

In Chinese, the character for crisis is also the character for “opportunity.” You can’t see round corners, but if you trust that the corners are there, and that you’ll always find a way to handle whatever is there when you turn them, you’ll simply enjoy discovering what you’re capable of. If you resist, you’ll hurt.
