5 common mistakes people might make when using the law of attraction

You need a 7 Day Brainwash1. Believing that positive thinking is enough to attract what you want

Positive thinking occurs only on the conscious level; this is why positive thinking alone is not enough to be able to use the law of attraction. It is necessary for belief to enter the subconscious as well.

As we have seen earlier, the mind is always operating on two levels; the subconscious and the conscious. The conscious mind is being given hundreds of tidbits of information at any given time from all five senses. This is an incredible amount of information to process, even from such an advanced tool as the human brain. The mind would slowly go crazy if it had to deal with all of that information all of the time.

Instead, the mind developed the conscious mind, which serves as a filter to review the information sent to it by the senses and retain anything that it deems important. Anything that it does not deem important is passed along to the subconscious. It is the subconscious which will retain this information, acting as the guardian of repressed memories until such time as those memories are needed again.

It has long been held that the subconscious has a direct effect on the actions and beliefs of the conscious mind; if the conscious mind is attempting to think positive thoughts while the subconscious retains a negative energy the two will cancel each other out, and the desired effect will not be achieved.

2. Becoming impatient

The universe works at its own speed; remember, every action carries with it an equal and opposite reaction. Your desire will manifest in the universe’s timeframe rather than yours! It could even be that the universe knows that you are not yet ready to receive your desire.

This means that the law of attraction may take weeks, months or even years to bring about your desires. People of today’s society are spoiled; they want their desires right now. They expect instant results.

When they don’t manifest immediately, people then start to doubt; disbelieving in the law of attraction because it does not manifest your desires immediately is a direct violation of the guidelines required to see them manifested. If you were confident in its ability to deliver the desired results you would be content to sit and wait, knowing that what you want will come to you in time.

On the other hand, the fact that you are not indicates that you do not have confidence in its ability to bring about the desired results. This means that somewhere in your being is a small kernel of negative energy, sufficient to throw a monkey wrench into the whole process of manifestation. Remember, if you are vibrating negative energy you will attract negative energy back onto yourself.

3. Determining ahead of time how and when you will attract what you want

Let the universe do its work! It is possible to become so focused on what you think is going to happen that you manage to totally miss the event when it occurs if it does not occur in precisely the manner you pictured it would.

As we said before, the universe will choose its own time and place for all things to occur, and these events may take place through rather unusual means. By trying to plan exactly how you will receive the desire which you want you are taking away the choice from the universe. For example you may want to make $10,000 in sales and picture yourself talking to a prospect and closing the sale. This is in conflict with the law of attraction, as it is not possible to manifest your desires by attempting to manipulate another person into doing something, even buying from you. The correct way of manifesting this goal would be to focus on the $10,000 and what benefits this money would bring you, and leave the method of getting it to the universe.

Another thing to be aware of is by trying to plan too much yourself you are essentially saying that you don’t have faith in the ability of the law of attraction to deliver the desired results in time. By setting your own timeline for events to occur you will eventually come to disbelieve in the law of attraction (after all, it didn’t do what it was supposed to, did it?), which will cause your subconscious to radiate the negative energy which will drive the positive energy away.

4. Allowing your emotions to be led by external evidence

In order to reap the full benefits of the law of attraction you need to believe that what you see now is a result of what you have been attracting to this point; again, it is essential that you realize that what has occurred in your life to this date and what will happen later on is determined by you. Whatever successes or failures you have experienced have been the result of the thought energies that your mind and body have released out into the universe.

It is very easy to look at the events of your life and think, “I certainly didn’t want that to happen; the law of attraction must be untrue because I would never wish for something so awful.” What you have to realize is that it is not always what your conscious mind wishes for that influences what your subconscious mind is projecting.

This leads us to the fifth most common mistake;

5. Not removing limiting beliefs

There are many occasions in which people fall into a self defeating cycle because they are unable to control the thoughts and attitudes of their subconscious mind. A common argument against the law of attraction is, “Why is there so much suffering in the world if people have the ability to determine the events of their life?” These people have not chosen a life of starvation and servitude; however, due to their history many of them do not truly believe that they have any choice.

This disbelief in their ability to change their circumstances because “it is the way that it’s always been” means that they will continue to live this way. Their subconscious continues to project that disbelief and negative energy out into the universe, drawing back negative energy which will cause them to continue to live in this self destructive cycle of events.

It is those who have dared to dream, and believe in the possibilities presented by these dreams, who have effected the greatest changes in the world. If Henry Ford had not truly believed that man could ride in a car, do you think that the Model T could have been invented? If women really believed that they were destined to live the rest of their life under the thumb of their fathers and husbands, with no say in the lives they would lead, would women’s liberation have occurred?

The removal of limiting beliefs such as these is absolutely vital to the ability of the law of attraction to work as it is intended to. If you truly feel that the law of attraction is not working for you, take a moment to consider the things that you are wishing for. Do you truly believe that you can have them, or does a part of you feel that it’s impossible? Do you secretly believe that you don’t deserve to have them?

In order to project the positive vibes which are necessary to draw the energies of the universe to you it is essential that you are one hundred percent confident in your ability to effect a change and are willing to believe that all of the events occurring up to that point have been a necessary prerequisite to bringing these events to be.

The simple key to the law of attraction is the ACCEPTANCE of YOUR responsibility.

I wish you complete success in manifesting all you desire.

Banish your self doubts

You need a 7 Day BrainwashSetting goals and planning your future is great of course but what happens if you start second guessing whether you are making the right choices in life? Do you suffer with self-doubts and anxieties as to whether you have it in you to succeed?

You’re not alone if you constantly experience those nagging doubts; they are a part of human nature and especially for those who do have low self-esteem but everyone will experience moments of hesitation and feelings of anxiousness. It’s how you deal with those feelings that are the most important.

It is possible to break out of this vicious cycle of negative thinking and with practice you can learn to control these dips in your confidence levels. There may be reasons of course why you are experiencing doubts and if there is a deep intrinsic reason as to why you are feeling less than confident, then this is something that you need to work through to be able to progress.

Sometimes we take on more than we can deal with. Sometimes we are thrown into situations where we have no way of coping and this can dent even the toughest of esteem levels. This additional and unwarranted pressure may have led to you doubting your own abilities.

Negative thoughts can chip away at your confidence, so stop them in their tracks and determine to think only positive thoughts. It’s not easy but it is achievable and the more that you do it, the better than you will feel.

Damaging self talk has probably been a part of you for many years so you have to realize that you won’t gain complete control for a while. But every time that you start thinking negatively, instead focus on something positive and think about all of the new opportunities for you that lies ahead.

Emotional hugs are something that can really give yourself a boost and if you can visualize yourself being cosseted and hugged and safe and secure, you will soon start to feel much better. Awareness of how you think and feel is vital if you are going to make changes because if you know that you are good at creating opportunities but bad at taking the risk of embracing those opportunities, then it’s obvious that you need to make changes and face your self-limitations.

Know where you’re headed

You need a 7 Day BrainwashDon’t you wish you could see round corners? Corners in time I mean.

If only we knew what was coming next! How many times in your life have you said or heard statements such as “if I’d only known then what I know now”, or “I should have seen it coming.”?

Because we can’t see round corners we cling, sometimes we even panic. We cling to our jobs or lifestyles that are outmoded, no longer expressing who we truly are, and that instead of supporting us have come to imprison us. But to change or let go would be terrifying.

Obviously we can’t see round corners. But I have a question for you. When was the last time you got into a car with not the faintest idea where you wanted to go? Never! Yet as you travel the roads you have no idea what is round each corner. You *trust* your ability to navigate any hazard that might appear, and you have total certainty about your ability to arrive safely at your destination.

The key is to be certain of the destination at the outset. Once you know where you’re headed, GO! Do your preparation as you would for any journey – read the guide books, pack your bags, buy your ticket, maybe even take out a little insurance, then go.

What else is life for?

Navigating the hazards will grow you along the way.

And if perchance you don’t end up where you thought you wanted to go, you’ll get somewhere else, and there’ll be another adventure for you to have.

Motivate Yourself For Success

You need a 7 Day BrainwashDid you see the Beijing Olympics, the World Cup Soccer or Wimbledon this year? Rarely are we privileged to witness such triumph and human spirit at its absolute best.

How did all those athletes get motivated, especially the gold medalists and the winners?

Was it the thought of the gold medal itself that kept them running, jumping, swimming or facing whatever feat of endurance that will write them into the history books?

Well, perhaps. But we know that what we saw them all do was the end of very, very long journeys for those incredibly motivated men and women.

Along the way, most of them will have faced failures, challenges such as injuries or changes in their personal lives, and there will for many of them I am sure, have been times when they lost heart and just believed they could not succeed.

We all know this. Most of us don’t even aspire to be Olympic athletes, but we each do have our dreams – for our businesses, our families, our relationships and ourselves.

Who wants to write a novel? Who’d like to perform their own song or play? Who wants to be a millionaire?

The journeys to dreams are rarely straightforward or without challenge. If they were, they’d hardly be worth having. The glory of an Olympic gold medal is precisely because it’s extraordinarily difficult to earn one. If they were handed out like candy at a kids birthday party, no one would have the slightest interest in a gold medal or gold medallist!

However, the biggest challenge isn’t with the feat of endurance – it’s with your own mind. You have to believe that you can do whatever it is, and in those moments when doubt creeps in, at those dark times when you lose heart, you have to know how to get back on track – fast!

Your coach, if you have one, can be a great help. Family and friends will rally round to support you. But ultimately it’s down to you. If you keep shaking your head saying, “I can’t do it. I can’t, I can’t,” eventually even your coach will leave you behind – and they’ll find someone else who believes they can!

Masters of Success know this. They know how to recognize the signs and symptoms of self doubt. More than that, they know how re-ignite the flame of desire for the goal, and fan that flame into a fervour that drives them – with passion – to keep going. That flame eventually becomes their personal blaze of glory.

Stay motivated. It sounds simple, but unless you know how to follow that instruction, it’s as daft as saying to someone who’s stressed, “Try to relax.” (What do you suppose they’ve been doing?)

Success comes from within. Motivation is a major component of any kind of success.

Going for gold?

See you at the top!

Make goal lists

You need a 7 Day BrainwashTypically those who achieve have a different mindset to those who never quite make the mark. This mindset is made up of an inner belief, a steely confidence and the power of positive thinking which can help to transform not only your outlook but the way that life’s journey unfolds.

In order to be able to change your life, you need to identify what it is that you really want to achieve. What one area represents the person that you would like to be? Or learn how to identify the one aspect that could add powerful positive changes to your life.

Having a clear focus will enable you to map out the things that you need to make these life-changing decisions and to start the ball of transformation rolling in your direction. Of course, clearing the conscious clutter isn’t always the easiest thing to do. Your mind could be so filled with disorder that even learning how to cope each day, week and month is a frightening reality. The prospect of making significant changes is not just daunting; it might feel as if it is off the scale of probabilities.

Making a list of all of the things that you would like to do will help define a pathway through all of the muddled thoughts that might litter your consciousness and having things clearly depicted in black and white in front of you will help you to sort out the priorities of your life.

It doesn’t matter if the list is jumbled and without any sort of order. The main thing is to direct your stream of thought onto paper and to capture it all. Afterwards, you will be able to sit quietly and sort them into order of preference.

This might sound far too easy to really be any good but it’s not. Small stepping stones will map out your way to great achievements. When you start to prioritize any goals, be sure to make them achievable. If you write down that you wish to earn a million dollars overnight, then you are probably going to wake up unsuccessful and disappointed that the power of thought didn’t do what you expected it to. There are no magic wands remember, but there is a science behind your transformational journey-you simply have to be realistic and be focussed.

You might really want to earn a million dollars but whilst this is distinctly possible it is more likely to be achieved further along into your journey than right at the start. Remember-small stepping stones lead to great things.

Your first goal should be something that could be achieved in a matter of weeks allow 4 to 8 weeks. So your goal should be something significant but that can be achieved with a renewed mindset and a sense of purpose. Ideally, any goals should feed into each other therefore making each goal the next important cog in the chain towards your overall target.

Some goals may be to just eliminate the negative aspects of your life that have always stopped you from achieving. Perhaps you are overwhelmed by negative thoughts constantly or perhaps your own self-limitations hold you back?

Do you always feel pressured for time? Wonder how on earth you are going to get everything done? In this instance, time management might be a good first goal if you always feel that your life is out of control and that you can’t implement new changes because there is never enough time to complete the tasks that you have currently.

When setting goals, you are looking at how to materialize the outcome and time management of course, would make a big difference to your life. Realistically, it simply needs a clear head when deciding which tasks should stay and which tasks should be cleared off your to-do list altogether.

Whilst creating your list, it’s worth considering just what holds you back in life. Why have you fallen short of your potential previously? It might be that you are scared to achieve or of course to fail? Capability is often not the real issue behind falling short of your potential but fear can be, so dig deep into your subconscious, what are you really scared of?

If you think about your chosen final goal, do you get excited by the prospect of realizing that dream? Or is there a nagging element of self-doubt that is interfering with your final vision? If yes, ascertaining why is important. Everyone has fears to overcome and facing up to yours is vital if you want to let go of the old you and embrace the new transformed you. Ask yourself out loud, what is really stopping you from being the person that you know you can be?

Don’t just write out your goals and forget all about them. You need to continuously reinforce your goals within your mind. They need to be important to you and you should relish each and every one of them. If you can imagine yourself accomplishing your goal then it will become more tangible and believable.

Stepping stones i.e. those small goals that interlink towards greater success are an excellent way of taking small but powerful steps to the new you. You need to follow your plan and work out a course of action for achievement and should you start allowing negative self-doubts to pop into your mind, just let them go. The power of the mind is strong. If you determinedly put all negative thoughts to one side and consistently do so, they will eventually dissipate.

Learn to track your progress and keep an eye on your timescales. If you have given yourself realistic deadlines then you should stay on course. Tracking allows you the chance to increase your endeavours if you are behind schedule and to pat yourself on the back if you are right on target. Tick each completed item on your to-do list and feel the sense of satisfaction at taking control of your life.

Treat yourself to something nice as you make each deadline. Your reward is personal to you but make it so that it adds to your sense of achievement. As you reach each deadline your confidence and sense of self-esteem will also rise dramatically.

Design your life

You need a 7 Day BrainwashOne of the most difficult things to master in life is your own mind. Every one of us has hundreds, maybe even thousands, of thought patterns that repeat themselves over and over in our head.

Some of these thoughts are supportive of our goals and self esteem but many of them actually hurt us or hold us back.

Taking control of your mind and directing your thoughts towards the things you want in life can be a huge challenge. But when you are able to overcome the challenges and focus on the things you intend to create in your life, the results can be amazing and exciting.

Let’s say, for example, that you have had a lifelong dream of traveling the world for a year. You know that this would be a life changing experience that you would remember forever.

But then you look at your current circumstances and you see a laundry list of reasons why this dream could never come true: a good job you can’t leave, a lack of funding, commitments to family, friends, teams and organizations, etc…

Your mind immediately says, “this trip is not possible until you clear all of those obstacles out of the way.” You then realize that removing all of those limitations is next to impossible and even if you are able to remove them, new obligations/limitations will replace the existing ones.

At the same time, you could look at other areas of your life where you are able to make things happen that seem impossible: you meet a crazy deadline at work, you brave the snowy roads and somehow make 3 family events for Christmas, you get the kids to school and yourself to work despite a huge traffic jam and car problems. The point is, you are achieving things in your life, on a regular basis, that seem difficult or impossible when you analyze them. Yet you seem to pull them off over and over again because you had no other choice… you had to get these things done.

When you realize that you have this ability to make things happen and figure things out “on the fly”, you gain a new confidence that you can apply to even the biggest goals in your life.

So if your dream is to travel the world but there are a mountain of excuses stopping you, the real solution is to treat the dream as inevitable and start acting as though it is inevitable. It could start with a small action like doing research on places to stay in your dream locations or it could start with a huge action like buying plane ticket to the first country on your dream list. This first action will lead to another and like every other time in your life, you will figure it out as you go along only this time, instead of getting the kids to school or finishing that project at work, you will be fulfilling a lifelong dream!

Don’t be afraid to ask for help

You need a 7 Day BrainwashThe other day someone reminded me of a quote from “A Course In Miracles” which goes something like: “All human behaviour is either an act of love or a cry for help.”

Such pearls of wisdom are lost, aren’t they, unless they have some personal meaning?

Then yesterday I got upset with someone I’m very close to. I mean angry and hurt. In my heart of hearts I knew I wasn’t being rational or constructive, but in the heat of the moment it didn’t matter. I was right, darn it!

And then, as so often happens when you just release for a while, the answer fluttered in. That quote reverberated round my brain for a while, and then I asked myself, “Well, in that case, I’m either performing an act of love or a cry for help. This surely doesn’t feel loving, so what is it I want help with?”

As if by magic the pieces dropped into place. I went to this person and said, “Listen. I need your help. I need not to feel like this. I know your behaviour wasn’t intended to hurt me, so I must have made up the hurt myself. But I’m kinda playing this loop tape in my head that you didn’t put there, but once I started it, for a while, it’s all I can hear.”

We reached a loving understanding in less than ten minutes. We are closer, bigger inside and enriched.

So here’s my tip for now, for this day and for always. If there’s anyone you’re upset with, even if it’s an old upset, ask yourself, “What is it I need help with?” And then humbly and sincerely ask them for your help. Do it with your palms up and your head high, for you are bigger than your anger, and love and friendship are more important than your ego.

Improve Yourself Programatically

You need a 7 Day BrainwashFor the past 3 years, I have spent most of my time developing my business and along the way, have had to overcome a number of fears and self-limiting ideas. What I was really doing was reprogramming my mind to think differently.

Here are 3 techniques you might want to try that will help you reprogram yourself to a new and improved YOU:

1. Hang out with an influencer.

When I first got started in business, I was struggling to pay the bills and find enough clients to keep me going. Even when I did find clients, I did a terrible job billing for my time and I was not recognizing my own value as a service provider.

I was then lucky enough to meet another business owner who had built a number of successful companies and had already been through all of the tough business lessons that I had yet to be exposed to. Over time we became friends and I was able to absorb an incredible amount of information about business, mindset, dealing with clients, social skills, etc… all of the things that made him so talented at business.

The challenge here is that you can’t just walk up to someone and ask them to be your friend. When you meet someone who you would like to learn from, show them that you value their time and bring something of your own to the table. If they feel they can also learn from you and your life experiences, they will be far more willing to hang out with you.

2. Wage a war against the whiny voice in your head.

Have you ever had an idea that totally captivated your imagination and inspired you to think about a life far beyond the one you are living today? If so, were you also among the majority of people who had that cynical, whiny, negative voice pop up and immediately tell you all the reasons why this new idea could never come true?

Instead of falling victim to that defeating voice, try turning the tables. Picture that voice as a vicious enemy trying to steal your life, power and happiness away from you. Challenge the voice. Question its authenticity. Question its reasoning. Make it powerless against your will.

Realize that you have the choice to replace that voice with a more encouraging, faithful and friendly one. A voice that will consider your goal not just a possibility, but a probability. A voice that does not look externally for validation before taking action, but rather, uses self-belief as its driving force. A voice that realizes that any person who has ever achieved greatness had to do so against similar odds and that all things are possible to those who commit to their vision.

3. Get the competitive edge.

When you want to accomplish something new, try setting up a competition against one or more people who want the same thing. This creates two powerful forces.

The first is the desire to be triumphant. Imagine the excitement someone must feel when they win a gold medal in the Olympics. They have achieved a personal dream and they get a flood of recognition from friends, family, media, fans and ultimately their entire country. What person would not love this kind of validation of success? The same kind of triumph can be experienced when you win a competition that you have been involved in, no matter how small it may be.

The second (and more powerful) force that gets created in competition is the desire to avoid defeat. Most humans instinctively associate any form of loss with pain and in most cases, will do anything necessary to avoid that pain. If you enter some kind of competition that will help drive you towards your goals, this pain avoidance force may be the deciding factor in your success.

Use competitive scenarios to drive you forward but remember to detach from the outcome. If you happen to lose your competition, don’t get down in the dumps. Focus on what positives came out of it (usually a drastic increase in results) and continue moving towards your goals.

Do you know what triggers your stress?

You need a 7 Day BrainwashBecause stress can be endured over a period of time without the individual truly becoming aware of it or by them simply accepting it as part of their lives, one of the most important aspects of stress management is to take those first positive steps towards making key changes as this will then create the strong foundations that are required to master stress control.

It’s important that progression is consistent throughout; they may be small steps individually but they are powerful ones nevertheless. The idea is to change any existing behaviours and to stress-proof new routines as much as possible, re-inventing both thought and actions going forward. This might sound difficult, but the most difficult aspect is always going to be identifying areas of change, after that, it is merely consolidating those lifestyle changes.

When life is muddled and very stressful, identifying the stress triggers that cause the problems will make changing them that much easier. Taking a pen and paper, write down all of the things that cause the most stress.

– No time to yourself

– Problems with the teenage son or daughter

– Money problems- more going out than coming in

– Feeling undervalued at home and at work

– Too much work

The list should be as comprehensive as possible and very honest. No-one else has to see the list and even those annoying little stressors should be captured because although on their own, they may just be a source of irritation, coupled with other factors, they can form powerful stress triggers that can cause much damage physically, healthily and emotionally.

Once the list is complete, it should be scrutinized with a sense of clarity to identify those areas where changes could be made. If necessary break the list down into a series of sub-sections and options such as:

– Feeling undervalued at home

– Having to do all of the housework as well as work full-time

– Main culprit Husband/Wife step-son

– Started happening when partner changed job and worked a lot more hours (pattern established).

Options

– Open up communication to partner

– Discuss jointly with step son and work out parameters

– Stick to it.

By writing down everything that evokes a stress response i.e. churning feeling in the stomach, headaches, tears, anger, or irritability for example, the individual is able to really understand what is going on in their lives and why they feel the way they do. In addition, this clarification of stress triggers helps the individual to face any set of real problems and tangible problems can always be overcome.

Self doubts, irregular thought patterns and feelings of inadequacies or helplessness are more difficult to fight. Ascertain the true cause of those stressors and deal with them one by one.

Motivation breeds success

You need a 7 Day BrainwashMotivation makes all the difference between success and failure and to achieve your goals, it’s vital that you have your own source of instant inspiration that fires you up each day and kick-starts your determination to be successful. With this in mind, it’s vital that you consider your own source of inspiration and what your motivation is exactly.

For some, it’s important that they follow in the footsteps of those members of family who are high achievers or perhaps, they feel that they have to prove themselves to others. It may be of course that the motivation in your case is to prove to yourself that you can be successful.

It’s important to be constantly reminded of your goals and why you have set them for yourself. You can do this quite easily by creating an area in your house so that you can be reminded of your goals every time that you walk by. It doesn’t have to be a list but anything that you want. For example, you could add notes, photos, and headlines from magazines or anything that inspires. If you are after a holiday of a lifetime for example, you could pin up photos of the area and remember just why you are working towards your dream.

Send yourself motivational quotes. You only need to look online to find lots of published motivational quotes, pick those that you really think would help in your goals and email your favorite of the day to your work place so that it is one of the first things that you see yourself each day as a reminder.

You can also plaster notes around your house so that you are constantly stimulated by the power of positive words and images. How far you go with this is up to you but these little reminders do work.

Motivation is all about learning as to what makes you tick. This is the absolute elixir of motivation and once you have it, you can tap into it at any point.

Motivation is very personal, what motivates you might not motivate others and that’s okay. Think about those inner-most dreams that may have been in existence within you for many years, if you don’t make changes to your life and grab any opportunities with both hands, your dreams can diminish.
