This can sound too good to be true- just ask for anything at all and you will receive it? I can assure you it is perfectly true. The things you want in life really can be yours just by asking for them. However, making the law of attraction work for you is not always this easy.

Firstly, you have to know how to ask. That’s the key- knowing how to ask, and knowing what to ask for. You can ask for anything you want. But just asking for a new car when what you really want is a Ferrari means that you won’t be truly satisfied when you receive your new car and it isn’t a Ferrari. And just saying “I want a brand new Ferrari” and then getting on with your life as usual probably won’t attract it to you.

The way to get the new Ferrari is by focusing your thoughts on receiving it, picturing yourself driving it, truly believing you deserve it, and allowing it to come to you.

Just asking is only the first step in the law of attraction. Feeling and acting as if you’ve received it is the second, knowing you deserve it and allowing it to come to you is the third.

If you doubt whether you deserve to have it then this will produce negative energy. Negative energy produces negative results. If you don’t think you deserve a new Ferrari, you won’t get it. If you don’t think the law of attraction works, it won’t work for you. If you focus on the fact that you haven’t got a new Ferrari, you won’t get it. The law of attraction states we get what we think about- good and bad.

If you feel that you desperately need to have a new Ferrari, it will probably not come to you. If you are coming from a place of desperation and need, the universe will deliver more of what it thinks you want- more feeling needy and desperate. You have to keep yourself as detached from the outcome of your desire as possible. You can do this by feeling happy and satisfied with all you have in your life right now, and knowing for sure that your Ferrari will come to you at the best possible time for you and so you don’t need to worry. Your job is to remain positive at all times.

Positive energy is the only way to get positive results. And positive energy is only produced by positive thoughts and positive feelings. This is the key to making the law of attraction work for you.

Use the law of attraction to let go

You need a 7 Day BrainwashUse the law of attraction to let go, receive your desires and allow them to manifest. This may sound simple, and it should be, but so many people fail at this. They expect the law of attraction to work like magic- they set an intention for $100,000 or whatever and just sit back and wait for it to drop into their lap. I’m afraid that the law of attraction doesn’t actually work like this. It works by prompting and assisting you to act in a certain way to bring your desires to fruition; for example if your intention is to lose weight, you will feel naturally drawn to healthier habits such as eating more fruit and vegetables and exercising regularly. You may find that you no longer desire fatty foods or foods you used to crave.

If your intention is to manifest a new job, you may get a hunch to call a friend you haven’t spoken with for some time. Whilst you are chatting, he then happens to mention that an acquaintance of his is looking to hire somebody in the exact field of work you have always wanted to work in.

If your intention is to manifest a load of cash, you may receive some inner instruction to start a new business, or get an idea of running your existing business more efficiently.

So although you will still have to take some action to receive your desires, it will be inspired action, and people have found that all the obstacles in their path have melted away before them. If you get a hunch or instruction that seems to come from inside of you, make sure you act on it, as it could be the universe’s way of manifesting your intention.

Also, make sure you are not stating your intentions from a place of desperation. For instance, if you need money to pay the gas bill before you get cut off, whilst you are reading your intention there is a risk that you will be worrying how you will get it, and inwardly fretting about your gas being cut off. This is where your emotions will be focused and you will attract more reasons to worry rather than the money you need to pay the bill.

You will need to be able to detach yourself to a certain extent when reading your intentions. Don’t allow yourself to feel bad because you don’t have them yet and have no idea how you are going to get them. That’s the universe’s job. You just need to feel confident that they are on their way so there is no need to worry. The trick is to imagine receiving them, get into the feeling of having them, get excited about them, feel grateful for receiving them and try to detach yourself from worrying that you don’t yet have them or how you will get them. That last sentence encapsulates quite neatly the whole process of manifesting your desires using the law of attraction!

Once you have received your intention, feel grateful for it and release that feeling of gratitude to the universe.

The law of attraction works by making sure that what is brought into your life matches the thoughts and energy you are sending out. Everything in the universe is made of energy- including us. Everything you can see is made up of different configurations of energy. If you were to look at your hand through a powerful enough telescope, you would see that your hand is not actually a solid object but made up of countless tiny atoms. These atoms are never static, but are in a constant state of motion. You are constantly radiating this energy out to the universe in the form of thoughts (which are also made up of energy), and the type of energy sent out depends on your emotional state at that particular time. These emotional thought energies are known as vibrations’ and automatically attract back to us anything that is on the same vibrational frequency. Put simply, your emotions and thought determine what you are attracting. You become a magnet, attracting whatever you think about, especially if you attach emotion to the thought.

Energy vibrates at different frequencies, and the things you attract into your life are vibrating at the same frequency as your thoughts. Thoughts such as love, excitement and abundance vibrate at higher frequencies which will attract more of these things to you, whereas thoughts such as stress, anger and confusion vibrate at lower frequencies which will attract more of them into your life.

For example, if you are constantly feeling anxious because your car needs repairs and you have some large bills due which you don’t know how you will pay, the thought vibrations you are giving out will attract back to you things on a similar frequency; for example you will receive more things to feel anxious about- you may get more bills or your washing machine may develop a fault.

On the other hand, if you are feeling good about yourself and happy with life then the thought vibrations you are giving out will attract more reasons for you to feel good and happy with your life.

Just as the law of gravity is always working, the law of attraction is also always working, even though we are not always aware of it. Everything we currently have in our lives right now is what we attracted- whether it is poor relationships, ill health or lack of money. Even the clothes you wear and the car you drive- your thoughts attracted them whether you were aware of this or not. Although this may seem a little depressing, it is actually quite empowering! How? Well, if you unconsciously attracted things you didn’t want into your life, now that you know about the law of attraction and how it works, you can start deliberately attracting the things you do want!

Positive thinking occurs only on the conscious level; this is why positive thinking alone is not enough to be able to use the law of attraction. It is necessary for belief to enter the subconscious as well.

As we have seen earlier, the mind is always operating on two levels; the subconscious and the conscious. The conscious mind is being given hundreds of tidbits of information at any given time from all five senses. This is an incredible amount of information to process, even from such an advanced tool as the human brain. The mind would slowly go crazy if it had to deal with all of that information all of the time.

Instead, the mind developed the conscious mind, which serves as a filter to review the information sent to it by the senses and retain anything that it deems important. Anything that it does not deem important is passed along to the subconscious. It is the subconscious which will retain this information, acting as the guardian of repressed memories until such time as those memories are needed again.

It has long been held that the subconscious has a direct effect on the actions and beliefs of the conscious mind; if the conscious mind is attempting to think positive thoughts while the subconscious retains a negative energy the two will cancel each other out, and the desired effect will not be achieved.

2. Becoming impatient

The universe works at its own speed; remember, every action carries with it an equal and opposite reaction. Your desire will manifest in the universe’s timeframe rather than yours! It could even be that the universe knows that you are not yet ready to receive your desire.

This means that the law of attraction may take weeks, months or even years to bring about your desires. People of today’s society are spoiled; they want their desires right now. They expect instant results.

When they don’t manifest immediately, people then start to doubt; disbelieving in the law of attraction because it does not manifest your desires immediately is a direct violation of the guidelines required to see them manifested. If you were confident in its ability to deliver the desired results you would be content to sit and wait, knowing that what you want will come to you in time.

On the other hand, the fact that you are not indicates that you do not have confidence in its ability to bring about the desired results. This means that somewhere in your being is a small kernel of negative energy, sufficient to throw a monkey wrench into the whole process of manifestation. Remember, if you are vibrating negative energy you will attract negative energy back onto yourself.

3. Determining ahead of time how and when you will attract what you want

Let the universe do its work! It is possible to become so focused on what you think is going to happen that you manage to totally miss the event when it occurs if it does not occur in precisely the manner you pictured it would.

As we said before, the universe will choose its own time and place for all things to occur, and these events may take place through rather unusual means. By trying to plan exactly how you will receive the desire which you want you are taking away the choice from the universe. For example you may want to make $10,000 in sales and picture yourself talking to a prospect and closing the sale. This is in conflict with the law of attraction, as it is not possible to manifest your desires by attempting to manipulate another person into doing something, even buying from you. The correct way of manifesting this goal would be to focus on the $10,000 and what benefits this money would bring you, and leave the method of getting it to the universe.

Another thing to be aware of is by trying to plan too much yourself you are essentially saying that you don’t have faith in the ability of the law of attraction to deliver the desired results in time. By setting your own timeline for events to occur you will eventually come to disbelieve in the law of attraction (after all, it didn’t do what it was supposed to, did it?), which will cause your subconscious to radiate the negative energy which will drive the positive energy away.

4. Allowing your emotions to be led by external evidence

In order to reap the full benefits of the law of attraction you need to believe that what you see now is a result of what you have been attracting to this point; again, it is essential that you realize that what has occurred in your life to this date and what will happen later on is determined by you. Whatever successes or failures you have experienced have been the result of the thought energies that your mind and body have released out into the universe.

It is very easy to look at the events of your life and think, “I certainly didn’t want that to happen; the law of attraction must be untrue because I would never wish for something so awful.” What you have to realize is that it is not always what your conscious mind wishes for that influences what your subconscious mind is projecting.

This leads us to the fifth most common mistake;

5. Not removing limiting beliefs

There are many occasions in which people fall into a self defeating cycle because they are unable to control the thoughts and attitudes of their subconscious mind. A common argument against the law of attraction is, “Why is there so much suffering in the world if people have the ability to determine the events of their life?” These people have not chosen a life of starvation and servitude; however, due to their history many of them do not truly believe that they have any choice.

This disbelief in their ability to change their circumstances because “it is the way that it’s always been” means that they will continue to live this way. Their subconscious continues to project that disbelief and negative energy out into the universe, drawing back negative energy which will cause them to continue to live in this self destructive cycle of events.

It is those who have dared to dream, and believe in the possibilities presented by these dreams, who have effected the greatest changes in the world. If Henry Ford had not truly believed that man could ride in a car, do you think that the Model T could have been invented? If women really believed that they were destined to live the rest of their life under the thumb of their fathers and husbands, with no say in the lives they would lead, would women’s liberation have occurred?

The removal of limiting beliefs such as these is absolutely vital to the ability of the law of attraction to work as it is intended to. If you truly feel that the law of attraction is not working for you, take a moment to consider the things that you are wishing for. Do you truly believe that you can have them, or does a part of you feel that it’s impossible? Do you secretly believe that you don’t deserve to have them?

In order to project the positive vibes which are necessary to draw the energies of the universe to you it is essential that you are one hundred percent confident in your ability to effect a change and are willing to believe that all of the events occurring up to that point have been a necessary prerequisite to bringing these events to be.

The simple key to the law of attraction is the ACCEPTANCE of YOUR responsibility.

How your mind affects the law of attraction

The conscious mind controls our physical actions, and also analyzes the information it receives from what we see, hear, touch, feel and smell. The conscious mind will then analyze and relay this information to the subconscious mind.

The subconscious mind controls the workings of the body outside our conscious control, such as digestion and blood circulation. It is the part of our mind that responds to our thought vibrations and works with the universe to manifest what it is we are focusing on using the law of attraction.

However, the subconscious mind is unable to analyze the information it receives and relies on the conscious mind to create its reality. This means that if your conscious mind is giving out strong thoughts of poverty, this will be impressed onto the subconscious mind, which will instruct the universe to manifest more of what you are focusing on- namely more poverty. The subconscious mind has no way of knowing or judging that this is negative and not what you truly want.

If you do not think that you are worthy of success, then your conscious mind is giving the instruction to your subconscious mind that you are not worthy, and it will manifest appropriate behaviors designed to keep success away. On the other hand, if your conscious mind tells your subconscious mind that you have a new car, and your focus is on the car, as long as you belief that it will come to you and that you deserve to have it, your subconscious mind will find ways of bringing the car into your life and making it a part of your reality.

If your conscious mind gives your subconscious mind an order, it has no choice but to obey. If you keep your thoughts and feelings positive and be specific in what you want, your subconscious mind will manifest it for you through the law of attraction.

You are responsible for what happens in your life

Not what you wanted? Then you have been giving out vibrations which have attracted these unwanted things into your life- or at least have not attracted the things you really want. By giving your attention to the things you don’t want in your life, and charging them with emotional thought energy, you have unconsciously attracted them. It is likely that some areas of your life are better than others, which means that you have been giving out more positive vibrations in these areas.

Does this mean that all of the bad things that happen to you in this life happen because you subconsciously want them to? Not necessarily. As we have seen, the law of attraction cannot differentiate between good and bad. If you are focusing too hard on something you don’t want to happen, such as your car breaking down or an automobile accident, your subconscious mind picks up on these vibrations and sees it as an instruction to manifest it into your life- regardless if it is something you want or not. You have attracted it by default.

It can be very tough to take on board the fact that we are responsible for creating everything we have in our lives right now- good and bad. A lot of people find it difficult to accept this- as a society we are very good at blaming anyone or anything else for our current situation. But, as we mentioned earlier, once you have accepted this then you can start to change your thought vibrations and start attracting the life you do want.

The Law of Attraction History

The principles of the law of attraction date back far beyond the new found popularity of the New Age.

The immortal Buddha was actually one of the first to introduce man to the law of attraction. He said, “What you have become is what you have thought.” This was a principle that the people of the east were acquainted with for centuries before it began to sweep into the western hemisphere.

The concept of karma may also have drawn its roots from the law of attraction. Karma states that you will eventually be revisited by that which you have sent out into the universe. If you have practiced kindness and compassion, you will receive it in kind. If you have been deliberately cruel to another, you will receive back into your life that cruelty which you have sent out. Your actions and thoughts morph into physical entities, causing the universe to react in kind.

The law of attraction began to gain popularity in the western hemisphere in the 19th century, as people began to appreciate the power of positive thinking and how to apply it to their lives. This new concept was first introduced to the general public by William Walker Atkinson, the editor of New Thought magazine, who published a book called Thought Vibration or the Law of Attraction in the Thought World’ in 1906. Other works followed, including the famous Master Key System’ by Charles F Haanel, and Think and Grow Rich’, written in 1937 by Napoleon Hill.

As you can see, the concept of the law of attraction is not new. The idea that thought can have a predominate affect on the course of a man’s destiny has been taught by wise men throughout the ages, and has given rise to a whole new era of beliefs. The principles have been used, either consciously or unconsciously, by the rich and successful for thousands of years.

The Secret’

You have probably heard of the movie, The Secret’- it has been largely responsible for the recent interest in the law of attraction and is well worth watching. The Secret’ is actually based on older classics’ written in the early part of the 20th Century, such as the Master Key System’ and The Science of Getting Rich’. However, knowing about The Secret’ (the law of attraction) is not enough- you have to learn how to apply it and how to control your thoughts and feelings so that your desires can manifest into reality.

The importance of good feelings

However, as we have seen before, our thought vibrations affect what comes into our lives, so if you don’t try to change your thoughts your day won’t get any easier. If you oversleep and then your car breaks down on your way to work, you will be tempted to think It’s going to be one of those days- what an awful day it’s going to be!’

Of course, the thought vibrations you are giving out to the universe will be negative ones, which will attract back a whole load more things to make the day worse- because that is what you are expecting. You may find that your meeting is really difficult, the caf gets your order wrong at lunch and your boss calls you into his office over an error you made.

However, as soon as something first goes wrong, you need to stop any negative thoughts and immediately get into happier ones. Focus on something that makes you feel good- it could be your partner, your child, your pet, your hobby- anything that will make you feel warm and happy whenever you think of them. Imagine yourself chatting to your partner, playing with your child or pet or enjoying your hobby and then, when you are feeling in a much better state of mind, think It’s going to be a great day!’ Your mindset will have completely changed and you will be giving out much more positive vibrations to the universe which will ensure that the rest of your day goes well.

If you are feeling really stressed and are finding it too difficult to change your thoughts, try a little visualization. Go somewhere quiet and close your eyes. If you find it difficult to find a quiet place at work, take a bathroom break! Take a few deep breathes and try to clear your mind of everyday clutter. Think of a peaceful place where you would love to be; this could either be a place you know, such as a holiday resort, or somewhere imaginary, such as by a mountain stream. Imagine that you are there; feel the hot sun on your face and the sand under your feet, or hear the gentle sound of water trickling over rocks and feel the breeze on your face. Spend a couple of minutes in the vision and then gently release it. You should feel much calmer.

Here is a simple experiment I tried some years ago; when I used to drive to work, I hated the journey as it was usually pretty busy, there were snarl ups, road works, break downs- you name it and I was held up by it. It used to take me ages to get to work and I found myself tensing up even before I left the house. I expected to be held up every morning and to hit loads of traffic- and I was never disappointed!

I had just heard of the law of attraction, and decided to apply it to my daily commute. Instead of feeling tensed and angry, and imagining all the hold ups I would encounter, I put on some relaxing music, and visualized having an easy journey into work. I imagined sailing through the usual busy spots, and felt confident that I would not experience any hold ups or broken down vehicles. I expected my drive to work to be smooth and quick. The funny thing is it really worked! As long as I took this approach, the traffic was a lot lighter, nobody had broken down, other drivers let me out at junctions and I started getting to work a whole lot faster!

You have probably experienced this when you are running late- every traffic signal appears to be against you, there are unexpected road works, you get stuck behind a slow moving vehicle, and find yourself becoming more and more worked up! On the other hand, if you are running early and feel relaxed because you have plenty of time, the traffic is flowing freely, all the traffic signals are on green and there are no hold ups at all, because you are not expecting and fretting about them. Try my little experiment and see the difference in your daily commute!

If you have a particular meeting or appointment you are dreading, don’t turn it over and over in your mind and think of the worst case scenario or you will be sending out negative thought vibrations to match it. Instead, imagine it going well, and visualize achieving the outcome you want- then forget about it. Don’t worry about it and don’t stew it over again and again in your mind.
