On that particular day, John was knocking on the doors, doing everything he was supposed to do and he is getting nowhere. Doors slammed in his face and he was getting yelled yet he was simply doing his job. He got to the point of calling his supervisor and tell him what was happening and he was told to take time to recuperate and get his head back in the game.

His attitude at that time was bad and he was having a bit of self-pity. So he took some time and called his girlfriend and she helped him orient his attitude. In this case, John needed someone to talk to who was not in the same situation as his and has a different focus than him so that he could refocus what was right in that moment.
