Nowadays, with the kind of society we have, there is a clear need of exercise. Exercise is the path to health and wellness. This is the main reason why fitness industry has grown over the years. While physical exercise is essential for health and wellness, there is one facet of exercise that is being ignored, which is the exercise that trains the mind. By following these four exercises, one can increase their concentration and focus while sharpening their recall. Here are the four exercises to improve your focus and concentration.
This exercise requires the person to have two different colored pencils and a timer with alarm. Set the alarm to go off at different intervals so that during one interval the alarm will go after 8 seconds, and during the next one it will go off after 12 seconds, and so on. The person will hold one pencil in each hand, and then extend one arm out so that it will be at eye level focusing on the pencil. When the first alarm goes off, the person will switch hands and concentrate upon the other pencil. This exercise improves the visual cortex of the mind, which helps the person to focus while ignoring any distraction.
This is not the conventional form of meditation because the person will pick any object prior to starting the meditation session. He or she will study the object, taking notes mentally of every detail like color, texture, share, and so on. The person will then close his or her eyes and try to visualize the object by recalling all the mental notes. This exercise improves memory recall and concentration.
This exercise requires the person to have a walk outside where there are plants. While walking, the person should pay attention to all the scents he or she smells and try to identity each one. After a short time, the person will select only one identified scent and try to smell that scent. By focusing on that scent, the person will increase his or her ability to concentrate on one thing while tuning out distractions. This skill can be used to all senses not just the smell.
Physical exercise can improve the brain function when a person engages in physical activities on a regular basis. By combining some physical exercises, it can have a big impact to your focus and concentration. There are numerous physical fitness activities that are perfect for brainstorming and introspection. While engaging in physical activities like cycling or running, many people report that physical stimulation makes their brain equally stimulated, which result to having best ideas and thoughts. This is proven by scientific studies that show ten to forty minutes of exercise leads to immediate boost in focus and concentration.
